Burlap Painted & Stuffed Door Hanger Tutorial

For many months, I have noticed these super cute burlap or jute (or canvas) door hangers in gift shops for all occasions. Like always, I think to myself, I can do that! :) I make one, and--like always and giddy with excitement in my new creation, I post to Facebook. To my surprise, I got much interest in my take of the burlap door hanger. I think mine is much more "rustic" or "haphazard" than most. Regardless, I promised a tutorial since these are EASY-PEASY to make! AND you can recycle/reuse plastic shopping bags in the process! This is my first tutorial, and I have many photos, so please bear (bare?) with me!

Here's what you need to make your own (with a breakdown of prices, too!):

• freezer paper or poster board for template, or you can free hand!
• roughly a yard of burlap or jute (I got mine at JoAnn for $3.99 a yard)
• about 10-20 plastic grocery bags
• regular stapler and staples (if you don't have one, I got a mini at Staples for $1 that came with staples!)
• 12 gauge wire (I used 12 gauge jewelry wire I found at JoAnn--3 yards for $1.99)
• thin floral wire (I had some on hand, so I'm not sure how much it runs per spool)
• ribbon of choice (I think the more different styles the better, but totally up to you. Spool prices vary, but check out Hobby Lobby--they run 1/2 off deals regularly)
• acrylic paint of choice (some can be found for 88¢ a bottle)
• bottle squeeze, slick paint for accent (*optional, and I had this on hand too, so not sure of price)

How to assemble (for football--but make any shape your heart desires!):
• Figure out the size you prefer. I used freezer paper and gauged what a "typical" wreath would be. Using freezer paper, fold in half, then half again. This makes for the least amount of drawing and a more uniform template. Draw curved line from top to side and cut, thus making a football shape.

• I have a lovely large seal-healing cutting matte that I lay out my template and burlap (doubled over to cut two at once) to cut with rotary cutter--so fast! But you can use a table and trace to burlap with sharpie and cut with scissors. Remember this is "rustic" so NOTHING has to be perfect!

• With the two pieces of burlap together staples about an inch to inch-and-a-half from edge around entire shape, leaving a hand's width open for stuffing. Space staples about one to one-and-a-half from each other.

• Stuff shape with plastic grocery bags. Lightly crumple before stuffing, and I place any printed sided toward back of shape so they don't show through. I used plastic bags, so if your hanger gets wet outside, it won't retain moisture and weigh it down--and it will dry quickly.

• Once shape is stuffed to your liking, staple shut. Now you have your "canvas" to pain and accentuate. Run your fingernail around outside edge to fray the burlap more.

• Paint your football seam and words for your team. I use a light hand so you can really see the burlap--remember, rustic is our magic word. Go in with brown for main football color leaving space around letters and seam. I think it accentuates the words, but that's just me. For added emphasis, use your squeeze slick paint around the letters and add a few squiggles for giggles. :D

• While your paint dries, make a bow! You can Google "hair bow tutorials" for lots of options, but I'll share how I did mine. Fold 3" ribbon to make two loops like this:

Then pinch it together like this, and wrap with long length of floral wire:

You'll end up with your base bow. Then fold 7/8" ribbon to make five loops like this, and pinch and wrap with wire from base bow:

Wrap center with long, thin ribbon (to cover wire) and tie behind base bow, letting long ends drape down. Cut different lengths of other ribbon, and secure with same floral ribbon holding bows together.

Before securing bow to football, run thick wire for hanger. Pick two points and run wire from back to front, and twist ends onto itself into circles. Then pick place to add bow, running wire from front to back, twisting wire onto itself. Voilá, and adorable painted burlap door hanger that YOU just made! :)

It's been awhile, but...

I know it's been awhile since I've posted, but we've been busy around here. And we're about to be even more so...we're moving! Due to the move, I will be out of commission until further notice. Transfer Shirt UPDATE!

Knox's shirt has now been through a delicate wash cycle, and permanent press dry--and it still looks great. However, I think I would forego the drying to hang dry. If ironing is needed, I would turn inside out and use medium iron, no steam. Care instructions will be included, if ordered.

Another thing I noticed is that the shirts may run a little short, so please consider getting a size bigger if your child might be getting close to that in-between stage. My wee little one isn't here yet, so I'm not sure how those run--hopefully right on track!

Possible New Items--Personalized Graphic Tees!

So, while I wait and plan for the arrival of Baby Girl (aka Cecily), I can't help but be inspired in new ways since I'm able to create for my own little girly girl. I thought I'd share the matching brother/sister shirts (and an awesome necklace onesie for Cecily!) I made for my two little ones using a new material--colored, iron on transfers I have custom cut with my digital cutter.

I want to do a test wash in delicate (which is what all items I create should be washed in!), just to make sure they hold up, before I offer to create for my wonderful customers. I also need to know if this is actually something you're interested in before I purchase multiple colors and amounts to keep on hand, as well as what colors you'd prefer! Options of colors for me to order are listed below, but of course I won't be able to offer all of them to you as of now. Knox's transfer color is Sapphire, and Cecily's transfer color is Hot Pink.

Checkin' In

Hello All! Just thought I'd check in with you and give another quick update.

Things are going well with the pregnancy, and we were able to find out a little early that we have been blessed with a baby GIRL! We're thrilled beyond belief to be blessed with a rough-and-tumble little boy and now a sugary little girl on the way. :)

I'm still on track to deliver at the first of July, and we're getting ready to put our house on the market. So with a combination of the two, I still plan on keeping production to a minimum. HOWEVER, I can't restrain myself from not being creative, especially for this little girl we're expecting. So, as I make things for her, I imagine I'll be making extras to sell here and on my Etsy store. A few smaller things will probably be able to be personalized, but a few other things will be just plain fabulous. I think my head might explode with all the fun, fabulous things I want to make, but I need to show some restraint. :)

So, check back every so often to check out what I have available. Most things will be ready to ship, and first come, first serve kinda deal.

Looking Ahead at 2010!

I love looking ahead at a new year, a fresh start. This year, I'm thankful and blessed beyond belief that we are pregnant with Baby #2!!!

Around the time we found out we were expecting is when I decided to take it a little easy before and during the holidays. All day sickness and back pain made it difficult to sit and create for long periods of time.

SO, with a due date at the beginning of July, I think I'll have to keep volume/production low to compensate for the continued back pain and to relish every moment with my sweet baby boy. If you are needing/wanting something created for you, please contact me and I'll let you know how my schedule is looking!

Thanks again for an AMAZING 2009! I can't wait to see what 2010 has in store--I know it has to be FABULOUS if I'm meeting my second sweet baby this year!!! :)

Christmas Card Designs!

We're back, and had an amazing time with family on vacay. Thankfully, I'm married to a computer geek and he repaired my computer. I don't know what I would have done without him. Only down side is that I lost a few current projects I was working on, but think I've caught up.

A few of those projects were the afore mentioned, from previous post, Christmas card designs. I just finished the recreation of one and added four others. I have several VERY different designs to appeal to different tastes. Please remember, text can be changed. If sending photos, please make sure images are of highest resolution and email them to ashley (at) greatdaygraphics (dot) com. I haven't had any issues with that email--YAY! :)

One card serves dual purpose--it's a Christmas card AND birth announcement so you have only one set of cards to address. Two birds, one stone anyone? :) This one is originally formated for 8.5x5.5.

Cards can be printed one of two ways, as of today. I can create image and email you a final JPG, of which you can upload to a source such as Walmart, Snapfish, CVS, etc. Prints should be roughly 10-12¢ a piece, but envelopes will have to be purchased seperately. Price for image is $15. If you would prefer that I print, assuming I have space in rotation, price for image is still $15, but you will get images printed on matte photo paper along with envelopes. Price per piece is 60¢ with minimum order of 20 pieces. I'm currently in the process of trying to find photo quality, textured cardstock that would make phenominal Christmas cards, but I'll let you know how that goes. I also have a beautiful pearlescent cream/ivory cardstock, that would look lovely with the angel card--that's why it's background looks cream. Price for cards printed on pearlescent stock will be 75¢ per piece, and envelopes would be antique white/ivory.

Technical Difficulties and Out-of-Town

So I'm going on vacay with family tomorrow bright and early, and I think my laptop computer's hard drive just crashed as I was finishing up some contract work. Great.

SO, if you email me at my new email addy, I'll reply upon our return at the end of the weekend. I was going to set up an automated replay, but obv can't do that now. Updating from Hubs' computer.

Wish me luck that my laptop isn't dead. At least I had a back up of all my info. Praise the Lord!

P.S. Only three weeks left in my schedule for orders that can be filled before Christmas/end of year!!! I will be posting a few Christmas applique designs and Christmas card designs at some point net week--probably end of next week, since I have to take my laptop to the Apple doctor on Monday. First of all, I know I played hooky last week. I apologize! I'm so busy (thankfully), that I'm just trying to keep up! :) Wanted to share a few pics of things I've made, AND, most importantly, give a low down on what schedule we're looking at for the next few weeks leading to Turkey Day and CHRISTMAS!

So, due to inspiration from BFF Cacey, I've decided to add Gift Certificates! YAY! I'm so excited, and obviously, new to this new function of PayPal. I do know you have to have a PayPal account to use, and thankfully, PayPal basic accounts are FREE, as are Etsy accounts to purchase from there! Because one has to have a PayPal account to use a gift certificate, and the only form of payment I accept on Etsy.com, I've decided to currently offer the gift certificates only for my Etsy site. Plus, on Etsy you can add multiple items to your cart before you check out, insert your sizes and color options in message to Seller, and it automatically calculates shipping and grand totals!

Die-Cut Kiddie Calling Cards

Need a card to drop into a gift your child's giving? Or do you need a kiddie/mommy calling card for those playdates? Make sure everyone remembers you and your wee ones with a unique, die-cut Kiddie Card.

Currently, I have the bunny and football die cut. The football doesn't have to have the houndstooth, and either card can be printed and cut from any lighter color cardstock. They can include your kid(s)' name solely, or both kids name and yours. Add phone number and/or email for an easy way to keep in contact with other mommies!

Itty Bitty Rammer Jammer

With the influx of orders for my Collegiate Inspired Pillowcase Dresses, some people needed cute clothes for the wee little ones--under 12 months.

I think the absolute smallest I can make the pillowcase dress is 6 months size. Having said that, I made the pictured Bama dress for my best friend's 3 month old daughter. It should be a little long now, and perfect for at least one more season. PLEASE remember to supervise infants while wearing the pillowcase dresses, especially the long ties.

I have a dear friend who is a life-time fan and graduate of the Crimson Tide, and met his beautiful wife there. They just had an adorable baby girl a few days ago, so I wanted to make her some things to add to, what I can only assume is, a massive collection of Tide Pride clothes! Matching her gown, I made the elephant red work design to encompass her initials for the bib and burp cloth. To my horror, as I was completing the burp cloth, my iron let it's presence be known--by leaving a nasty brown mark over the embroidered piece! Grrr! At least I have more burps, but that makes me so sad to be oh-so-close to finished only to ruin the whole piece! BOO!

Molly's Momma wanted her to have bloomers, but I'll be making her some matching leggings in the near future.

The font of Molly's name matches the Roll Tide applique.

This wrap gown ONLY comes in size 0-3 Months. Can do gown with plain onesie up to size 6-9 Months, but won't have trim. Plain onesie's will have iron on applique that is on Pillowcase Dresses.

Other gowns will have one tie at bottom that matches the Pillowcase Dress top ties.

Just wanted to post a few more things that I've completed for a few customers. I'm hoping to create a new collegiate-inspired item this week for newborns/infants, so they don't get left out. (Pillowcase dress sizes are for 12m-4T, and boy's Pants Set are also 12m-4T. Larger Pillowcase dresses can be made special order--please contact for quote.)

I call these two dresses a "sister set." They're the same fabrics just opposite placement.

I didn't get a close-up of the hairbow that matches perfectly, but at least you can see how great they go together!

First Tennessee Vols outfit created. This is cute--this household is a "house divided" with mommy a Rebel fan and daddy a Vols fan. Little sister got a Hotty Toddy Pillowcase dress and big sister got a Rocky Top Pillowcase dress.

So, I've come to the realization that I'm going to have to create an actual website, with categories, buttons to click, shopping cart--the whole nine yards. I'll be working on that in the next few months in my "spare time." Haha! Maybe we'll have a release date at the first of the year?!

FUNKY, FUN Trick-or-Treat Bags

I've been trying to play catch-up from the recent out-of-town visit, while baby boy is with one set of grandparents for the week. After I finish my current sales, I need to finish sewing slipcovers for my own house before my parents come to town this weekend to celebrate Labor Day.

Ole Miss Pillowcase Dress!!!

So, I couldn't wait to post this until my weekly posting day of Tuesday--it's just SO CUTE!

I had a sorority sis contact me wanting some fun game day gear for her one-year-old sweet baby girl. We decided to go with a pillowcase dress since it will transition well into fall with a longsleeve shirt and leggings. It can also grow with her--once the length gets too small, it can become a shirt so just add pants! So with that premise, she wanted something football-ish and with Hotty Toddy. I already had the great red & blue gingham that we used for the base of the dress, and I added the red swirls to make it a little more fun. I created the applique, and can be altered for any other school.

Without further ado, here it is!

Collegiate-Inspired Pillowcase Dress: $35

Football Inspired

If you haven't noticed from a few of my items, I love to show my school spirit. This is more evident during the season of FOOTBALL, I mean, fall. Now from the houndstooth and combo colors of blue and red, fellow SEC lovers can tell my heart lies with the Crimson Tide and the Ole Miss Rebels (born and raised a Bama fan, but college scholarship drew me out of state to the Heart of Dixie.) However, I consider myself a pretty open-minded person, and have created some fabulous items for a fellow SEC team. :)

This customer was so creative with her vision of having a football themed baby shower, and her wording was the icing on the cake! I created the clipart. Printed on white cardstock. Background black and red are cut, textured cardstock.

I've been dying to make some collegiate-inspired baby gear, so this was a great opportunity for me to use my clipart and the giant ric-rac I love oh-so-much!

Birthday Gear! From Head to (almost) Toe!

YAY! I've had a chance to make several BIRTHDAY OUTFITS! And I ABSOLUTELY LOVE them all! My newest accomplishment is the coordinating boy shorts I sewed using a pattern I CREATED!!! I'm so proud of myself. Have to give my Sorority Big Sis, Jill, a shout out for some conversational guidance on how to accomplish that task. She's an AMAZING semstress! I'm so lucky to have someone that creative and talented in my life, not to mention the fact she's an even more amazing friend. :)

Hair Bow Holders

I've previously mentioned that I was going to make hair bow holders, and ta-da! I have two complete.

On my Etsy storefront, I have listed, under the Wall Plaque, an option of adding ribbon to the bottom to create a hair bow holder. My very first Etsy sale was this option for a lucky little girl named Olivia! :) I thought it turned out great!

Embroidered Hair Bow Holder $24

This next hair bow holder is an experiment. I wanted to do a fun and whimsical hair bow holder for a more playful room. This is a 12" diameter circle cut from multiple layers of chipboard--very light weight.

The edge is finished with thin ribbon (you can barely see the light purple ribboned edge), and the initials and background are cut from paper. The back of the piece is also covered in paper.

Holes for ribbon placement are finished with nickel grommets. Ribbon is tied in a way so that the holder is flush with the wall. Coordinating buttons and thread top off tied ribbon. Price would be $20.

So--what do you think? Is this hair bow holder worthy of an Etsy listing?

This last image is another bucket hat I just finished for a friend. Just wanted to show that I can do short names, as well as the initials you saw last week. I'm hoping I get a few more new things finished this week to share with you next Tuesday. Tuesday is my unofficial update day for this blog, so check back weekly!

Birthday HATS! :)

Ok. I can't begin to express how happy these hats make me! They are so fun, AND I'll be working on a few more over the next week (including ones made of fabric, applique and embroidery!)

These listed are all made of paper, yarn, ric rack, and grommets for the cord. You don't see the cord in most pics, since I should be receiving the cord stops in the mail today. The cord stops make it a breeze to slip on and off a kid of any age! Any girl hat can be finished with the "princess topper" instead of a yarn pom pom--you'll see pics below. Hats are finished both outside and in so they look fabulous from all angles.

These hats, just like most everything else I create, are completely customizable and no two are exactly alike! I can custom match your theme or decor. Once the fabric hats are established, I'll be able to create an entire fabulous outfit for your little one to celebrate in--from head to toe--literally! :)

So, I'm delving into another realm with my creative works. Due to fabulous suggestions from two great people, Lindsey (my brother's girlfriend) and Sonia (a friend from my hometown), I will be making equally fabulous things for your POSH PUPPY! :)

Here's my first creation, with another to follow soon. I'm hoping to have the second ready to show by this weekend.

As you can tell, I think I'm going to gear most of these towards college teams, hence the reference to Ole Miss Rebels, Georgia Tech Rambling Wreck and the obvious houndstooth of the Crimson Tide. Of course, I can use any fabric you want and embroider/applique anything you want, from names to initials! Price for these are $18. I can add embellishments like piping and ric rac to the edge of the scarf for a small extra charge. All collars have hardware for buckle, adjustment strap, and d-ring for leash. Just thought I'd let you, my fabulous readers, know that I'm in the process of setting up an Etsy site. I'm also working on some more fun sorority gear for your wee little ones! (Obv, designs can be altered to suit current actives or alumni!) I'm just waiting to finish a few more designs so I can post several things at once.

A few other things I have in the works are a cheerleader bag, more bows (including corkers! SEE PICS BELOW!), and a middle school cheerleader shirt (picture below!). One thing I'm soooo excited about creating is custom birthday hats that can finished in fabric and embroidered or finished in paper with cut-out initials. The great thing about the custom birthday hat in fabric is that I can make an entire birthday out fit out of the same fabric, so everything is coordinated! Oh and I'm thinking about making cupcake toppers that can coordinate with invitations so EVERYTHING from clothes to paper goods can all match for your little one's birthday. HOW FUN!

For the Next Generation of A-O-Cutie-Pi's

Anyone that has/is a part of a Greek affiliated organization, or really ANY organization for that matter, knows that the bonds you form in that group stay with you forever. You also want your family, especially children, to know that same fabulous bond you did.

Now, I can't speak for ALL sororities and fraternities, but I know for us t-shirts were pretty much a big deal. So much so, that you might not make it to chapter, but dang it, you GOTTA have your shirt and you GOTTA have it ASAP! I say this jokingly, but I remember it all too clearly being the T-shirt/party pic chair my sophomore year. People basically beat down the door of my room in the sorority house to get their dern shirts, harassing my sweet roommate (Love you, Jill! :) However, I digress.

I don't have a daughter (yet :), but I would want her to know about my amazing time in college as an AOPi (Alpha Omicron Pi). To honor my sorority and my sisters, I have created this design for our "next generation"--the legacies! I am now able to die cut invitations, business cards, hanging tags--you name it, I can cut it! And it doesn't stop there! I should be able to emboss invitations and thank you cards in the very near future, in addition to cutting chipboard and light balsa wood names and letters in a multitude of fonts for your little one's room. Happy Mother's Day to all the amazing mothers out there!

My mother's birthday happened to fall on Mother's Day this year, so this is what she got from me. (The Hubs thoughtfully made our gifts for Mother's Day this year!) Sadly, this is the first thing I've had a chance to make her for her own use, and my poor mother-in-law hasn't gotten anything yet! :( Hopefully, I can remedy that situation soon. :)

YAY! I am now offering bows, and I LOVE it! They are SO FUN! Makes me want a little girl that much more. :)

The first few photos are of a super cute outfit I made for my BFF Tiffany's baby girl, Norah (SURPRISE!) I thought she needed a cute little outfit to wear this fall to support her favorite college team. RTR, baby! :) I made a matching bow with houndstooth and red ribbon, so her outfit would be complete from head to, well, bottom!

This is a skort, with full skirt around the shorts--perfect for presh little girls on the move.

I wanted to do something other than satin stitch around the edge, so this has a blanket stitch around the edge. Can do either one though! I kinda like being able to see the raw edge (it won't fray--it's been treated so that it won't)

This is a "naked" view of the houndstooth and red bow. All alligator clips will be finished like this.

Inside has a no-slip velvet ribbon, for added staying power! And I know my nails look rough. :(

Caroline is 4, so this bigger french clip bow will fit her sweet head perfectly. This is 7/8" ribbon.

Tia's Bridal/Bachie Weekend Printables

A sweet friend here in ATL, Toni, helped throw her sister a wonderful Bridal Shower and Bachelorette Party over this past weekend. We coordinated her printables with a design Tia is using on her wedding website (just a little disclaimer: I did not set up the website.) Her wedding colors are off-white and plum, with accents of orange being used at the reception--so pretty! Anywho, here are the invites for both the Bridal Shower and the Bachelorette Party, along with the favor tins and the Bridal Pins (a game for the guests--three rings hidden inside three dresses. Ones who picked a pin with the ring receives a prize!)

This was the "pro-type". I can't find my pic of the final, but it was cream with purple embroidery.

NALA Logo Design

I just finished these for sorority sister, Tracy, and her beautiful daughter Adalyn! Such fun colors and fabric, I had to share--I'm in LUV with the blue and the fabric. It will be gorgeous next to Adalyn's beautiful blue eyes!

Oh Baby! An Advertisement

One of my crazy-in-a-great-way friends (WA), Leslie in TN, helps her mother do marketing for her mother's store, Watercolors. I was lucky enough to help them out with some business marketing for their new line, Watercolors Bebe, before Christmas last year. This was designed to be used as full page fliers, along with email blasts. I even got to amend their existing store logo, to create a similar logo for Watercolors Bebe.

In all, it was so fun to work on, since it is a little more girly than I normally get to do. By far, one of my favorite full page ads! I not only got to work with a dear friend, but I ADORE all of the stuff they carry! :)

Girly Girl Birthday Wear

Andrew, from the previous post, has a sister, Abby, whose birthday will be a week or two before his. Her mom wants to give her sweet little girl a girly-girl birthday outfit--a pink leotard. I REALLY hope she has one of those fabulous little homemade tutus to go with it! I was quite nervous when I started this one, since it was my first embroidery on spandex--YIKES! Lots can go wrong, but thankfully, it didn't! I even made Abby a sweet hair clip to match the butterfly on her leotard. :)

Boys Will Be Boys

I also had to make another shirt for my wild man. I picked up a great piece of fabric a few weeks ago, and I've been dying to use it. You can't tell very well from the photos, but the little silhouettes are little baseball players. I don't tend to go for "theme" type fabric, but since it was such a simple pattern, I had to get it. I added the blue letters in tribute to my Ole Miss Rebels. Might as well be baseball related, since we ARE somewhat decent in that arena. Ha!

This is another boy birthday shirt I just finished tonight, for a sorority sister of mine, Kristy, and her 3 year old, James. James loves rocket ships and outer space, so this is what he'll get to wear on his big day! (His shirt is navy, though you really can't tell by this photo.)

Molly's 1st Set of Burp Cloths

Here are two burp cloths I just finished for Molly. I wanted to try just outlines with her name, and add the ribbon down the sides. The ribbon and the initials were my "original" way of making burp cloths when I made several for Knox. I just happened to have the ribbon that had both pink and green, so I swapped the same colors between the two cloths to tie them together.

Here are a few boy applique items I've just completed. I wanted you to see that even rough-and-tumble little boys can still look oh-so-cute in appliqué! :) The One Year Cupcake is the same as Bella's, but this time it's for presh Ben, son of our friends The Smiths in TN. I also couldn't leave my very own child out of the mix, so I finally got around to designing him his very own appliqué in honor of his past Halloween costume when he was the cutest little dragon/dinosaur.

Knox's Luggage Tag

I've been wanting to make a luggage tag for the bag I use for Knox's diaper bag. It doubles as my purse, because I was tired of hauling around both a diaper bag and a purse --and knocking everything over! Since it's not monogrammed because it kinda looks like a purse, I thought I needed a tag for when I leave it with him in the church nursery. Plus, we've recently discovered he's allergic to two types of antibiotics, and I think it's best that his caretakers know that pertinent info. So here's what I came up with--I think next time I'll put a satin stitch border around the initial & name, but I love it just the same!

Molly's First Paci-Clip

I've been waiting (not-so-patiently) for my bestest Jayma to pick a name for her sweet baby girl, and within the past week her and her hubby finally made a decision. Molly will be here on or around July 2nd.

Today, I made Molly's first monogrammed gift--a paci-clip. It's not super girly, but if you know Jayma & BJ, you know why I made it the way I did. Who doesn't know what black & white hounds tooth with a hint of red signifies? All I can say is Roll Tide Baby! ;) Having said that, I am not opposed to making garb to highlight or reference other teams! Haha!

Jayma, I am holding this gift as ransom until you and BeeBee come visit for our belated birthday celebration!

I thought I'd share what I created for my very own wedding. My colors were blush and bashful...just kidding! However, I did lean towards red in honor of my sorority. :) My actual colors were reddish-wine and plum--fabulous for a fall wedding if I do say so myself. I, of course, had to incorporate the rose since I am a beautiful lady of ALPHA-O! hehe! I created two "logos", if you will, that I used throughout all printables. All were printed on ivory paper, since the my wedding dress (the same dress my mother and maternal grandmother both wore on their wedding days) was a candlelight color.

Sherry's Invites from 2008

My fab friend Sherry had an amazing whirl-wind of a year in 2008. She married the love of her life in January, and gave birth to her precious baby Cade ten months later. I was lucky enough to design invitations to all of the fabulous parties that were held to honor those occasions in her life.

I didn't take the photos for her wedding announcements or reception invitations, but they turned out great! The particular baby shower I did the invites for had a barn theme (Cade's daddy hearts horseys!) and was held in a friend's barn! The fun thing of the shower invites were that the barn doors opened to reveal the info.

I also made some things for sweet baby Cade--the burp cloths with the appliqué initials along with fun football and sailboat appliqué onesies.

Meghan's Save The Dates and Matching Embroidery

My brother's girlfriend's sister is getting married in August, and I am thrilled to be designing her wedding printables--from Save The Dates, to Invitations and Reply cards. In getting a feel for my new software, I made a little monogram to match her wedding printables design (the same signature design is present in each piece, making them coordinate and create a "logo" for the soon-to-be Mr. & Mrs.) Now I'm able to bring that "logo" into a new medium--embroidery!

Bella's Birthday Gear

One of my sweet sorority sisters asked me to do some clothes for her daughter first birthday, which I gladly completed. The cupcake appliqué is an original design, that was first done by hand, but now I have digitized for my embroidery machine.

Bella's birthday theme colors were red and pink--namely red with white polka dots in leu of the Mommy & daughter's love of Minnie Mouse. I'm thrilled with the fabrics I was able to find for her. Meredith sent me the bloomers to embroider, and the little cupcake is a hair clip! How cute?! I'm so proud of myself for that one! :)
